KMC Update: September 24, 2021
Thank you to all of our friends, new and old, who have supported us on this journey to
open the Kennebec Meat Co. in Bath, Maine. Many of you have asked us about the
status of our project. Our efforts have not been without their challenges in the current
climate – so we thought we would provide updates for you as we make progress.
We acquired the property at 94 Richardson Street (formerly Betsy’s Hair Salon) in July
and have been doing demolition in preparation for an entirely new interior of the
building. As many of you know, it has been incredibly busy for the construction industry,
which has had challenges getting workers for projects. I’d like to give a shoutout to
Kennebec Builders in Brunswick, who built our family home in Georgetown and who
have been doing what they can to help us with getting the building ready.
We have ordered the equipment we will need; however, due to the many setbacks with
the supply chain, it will still be a number of weeks before we will have all of the
equipment we need to open to the public. In the meantime, we are trying to squeeze
that timeline with our equipment partners and doing the other preparations to provide
the highest quality meat and provisions with a level of customer service that we believe
will set us apart in the community.
As to the question of “when are you going to be open” – we are hoping to do so in
November if all works out. Keep your eye out for updated changes to the building, new
signage, and additional updates for those following us on Instagram.
Thanks again for your support.
